Welcome to Bristol Plays Music and our new prospectus for 2015/16 BPM has a great reputation for providing high quality instrumental music lessons and a range of ensembles and choirs to schools and at music centres throughout the city. We are delighted to announce two exciting new music centres – Bristol Music Centre South based at Merchants’ Academy covering the south side of the city and Bristol Centre for Young Musicians at Bristol Cathedral Choir School based in the city centre. We now offer more opportunities than ever to learn, play and perform. We are very fortunate to be part of Colston Hall, Bristol’s largest concert venue, presenting music and entertainment by major names in rock, pop, jazz, folk, world and classical music, as well as local choirs, orchestras and schools; working in partnership with city wide organisations; leading on musical education, commissioning new works, supporting local musicians, and promoting music across all communities to build on the vibrant talent already in the city. As part of this work Colston Hall is supporting two young companies in residence. This programme aims to give talented young musicians a worldclass music education to encourage a professional career in music by facilitating masterclasses and side by side performances with visiting international artists. In addition, Colston Hall’s Young Companies in Residence deliver a challenging concert programme at Colston Hall and across the city.
