romans 5:6-11 head heart hands feet
Sometimes we are tempted to believe that the Bible takes things far too seriously. The idea of an angry or wrathful God can become embarrassing to us. But the Bible challenges us to see sin as it really is; we hate God and have declared war against Him. If we don’t see sin as it really is, we will lessen not only our view of sin, but our view of Gods’ grace as well. After all, “the one who has been forgiven little loves little” (Luke 7:47). Spend time discussing how you have viewed the anger and wrath of God.

What are some sins our culture views as not a problem, or even as a good thing?
What sins are you tempted to view as small and unimportant?
Spend this week praying for God to examine your heart showing you where you have taken His grace for granted and treated sin to lightly? Repent of those things when God brings them to mind.
Normally this section is about how to pass on that we are learning to others. However, it is dangerous to call others to repentance when we have sin in our own life that we refuse to repent from. After all, Jesus, in the Sermon on the Mount, calls out hypocrites who try to “take a splinter” out of there brothers’ eye when they “have a log in their own”.
If you have sin in your life that you have refused to repent of, I challenge you to meet with a fellow brother or sister in Jesus this week and confess this to them as we are encouraged to do in James 5:16.
