ST STEPHEN’S ANGLICAN CHURCH

THE DELI LA NA

Settled back in 1790, Kurrajong is the Aboriginal name for ‘shade tree’ and is home to just over 3000 residents – all of whom appear to be energised by the beautiful surrounds, pure air and hypnotic call of the extremely vocal bellbirds. You can quite literally spend all day dipping in and out of the fine cafés and shops on the Old Bells Line of Road. Bidwillii Design is a good starting point – it’s filled with unique homewares and foodie goods crafted by local artisans. The store is attached to Sassafrass Creek Café, a fully licenced venue that presents jazz in the front courtyard on Sundays and houses a vibrant art gallery.

Seasons of Kurrajong has an outstanding lunch menu – homemade tarts are bursting with summer ingredients and the views are glorious. Across the road you’ll find The Deli La Na, ideal for picnic fare and takeaway treats. Also pop in to Carey & Co., which delivers a cleverly curated mix of designer fashion, jewellery, beauty products and gifts. For a truly divine experience, head to the historic St Stephen’s Anglican Church, set on Grose Vale Road and boasting the township’s finest vantage point. If the church is closed, don’t hesitate to knock on the door of the adjoining cottage – Senior Pastor Shaun McGregor lives here and will be only too happy to show you around. BML
