On Thursday, April 19th 2018, Dovely Trinity was released by the Omicron Omicron Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.! The three lovely ladies - Debbie McGee, Chantie Greene, and Kerriana Tatwn - put on an amazing show that consisted of greetings, history, steps, strolls, and overall Zeta love! We are so excited to see what else these three ladies will bring to this zealous organization.

Spring United Women of Color week this semester took place from Sunday April 22nd - Saturday April 28th, and was of course a week that brought life, laughter, and lots of fun. It began on Sunday with our ammal hair show that usually takes place during black history month. This year the event embodied the theme of 'Melanin Magic', honoring the beauty of black women and our diverse hair. Rounds this year included short hair, long hair, protective styles, and a freestyle, all of which were won by CSU graduating senior, Nastassja Barker. We not only highlighted talented stylist in Colorado, but local brands and artist as well from the northern colorado and denver metro area. It was ultimately an afternoon filled with celebration for blackness through art, hair, fashion and fun. Monday consisted of a cook off where a few members brought desert to the office to taste and enjoy. Senior Bethany Norwood bought cookies, while Junior J azmen Gonzales bought brownie and rice krispie bites. Tuesday the members stepped out for a UWC photoshoot, hosted by Moco Photos, where they got the opportunity to get some formal group pictures taken. This was followed by bonding where the ladies gathered at Olive Garden for food, laughter & tears, and a genuine fun time. Wednesday the ladies switched it up to engage in critical discussion based around the movie' Souls of Black Girls: The Image of Women of Color in Media'. Ladies held space and discussed Black women and the experiences faced in America. Conversation consisted of colorism, and the "Black girl narrative", experiences with world traveling with such intersectionalities, etc. Thursday UWC headed to the rec for self love fitness night. Here the ladies learned a dance taught by their very own president, senior Jhasmyne Cooper-Moore. The ladies in this space are encouraged to let loose and enjoy themselves while releasing any stress they may have. For that hour and a half, the ladies are allowed to enjoy themselves while also activating the body to workout. Friday consisted of a promotion party in the B/AACC office where people ate, danced, and listened to music from the artist who performed at the Colored Souls concert Saturday evening. Saturday UWC wrapped up the week with their annual spring concert that, this year, featured R&B artist Ella Mai. Alongside Ella Mai the show was opened with three performances from local artist in the Northern Colorado I Denver Metro area. The first was CSU graduating senior Aliyah Briggs formerly known as Shyann Lee. The second was Denver Native Rachel Bailey, concluded by 2018 opener for Summer Jam Kayla Rae. Headlining the concert, Ella came and left her heart on the stage. There were unfortunately some unforeseen technical difficulties, however Ella took the time to com1ect with the audience by singing some classic acapella covers to artist such as Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu. Despite the mishap she continued the show with her live band and rocked out the North Ballroom with her songs ranging from 'Breakfast in Bed' to 'Down'. She took the time to perform chart topper 'Boo'd Up' for the audience TWO TIMES! Members of the organization got to meet her and talk to her for a little and received her as a chill and very sweet individual. All and all, the feedback received from those who attended was nothing but positivity about how much they enjoyed the concert and even started to listen to the openers who performed. As UWC continues to grow both literally and figuratively they hope to continue to grow and expand events for themselves, as well as CSU campus and surrounding Fort Collins community. They encourage all women of color who are looking for a space to authentically belong and just be to take the time to attend meetings begim1ing in August every Tuesday from 5: 15pm-6:30pm. UWC would also like to thank all those who volunteered and helped in any way as well as all of those who attended one or more of the events.
