Pinwheels placed as symbol to prevent child abuse

In honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month, Adams County Humans Services placed hundreds of blue and silver pinwheels in the employee entrance at the Adams County Human Services Center in Westminster.

“As elected o cials, we must protect the most vulnerable, including our children. Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month reminds us that we must work tirelessly to prevent child abuse and neglect in our communities,” said Adams County Commission Chair Steve O’Dorisio. “By coming together and raising awareness, we can ensure every child feels safe, loved, and protected.” e pinwheels have long been a national symbol representing
Prevent Child Abuse America. e pinwheels signify playfulness, joy and childhood while recognizing the di cult work caseworkers do to help the lives of children and families.
Commissioners heard presentations regarding Sexual Assault Month, Public Health Week, and Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Awareness Month at their April 4 public hearing at the Adams County Government Center.


“It’s our responsibility to use this Child Abuse Prevention Month to raise awareness and work towards creating a safe and nurturing environment for every child,” said Katie McDougal, human services director.
“ is is why, as a county, we unite our e orts to stand up against child abuse, so that every child can grow up to reach their full potential. Every child deserves a safe and healthy home.”
