May is Mental Health Awareness

Month and Wheat Ridge Mayor Bud Starker highlighted the need for access for residents.

Starker asked all of Wheat Ridge to “recommit our communities and resources to increasing awareness, understanding, providing appropriate and accessible service for all community members.” e city is working in partnership with the Je erson Center for Mental Health, which provides resources across Je erson County. A continued partnership with the municipality, including a series of mental health seminars open to the public. e next one is on May 25, 6 p.m., called “Putting Out the Fire: Preventing and Managing Burnout.” You can nd more information and/or register on the Mental Health and Wellness Series event page. e training is paid from the $400,000 allocated to Je erson Center from the city. It’s one of several projects made possible by the proceeds from the $7.9 million American Rescue Plan Act. e City of Wheat Ridge received the ARPA funds a year ago. e proclamation came in an April 24 City Council meeting, along with another that aligns Wheat Ridge with the state of Colorado. It recognizes Asian American and Paci c Islander Heritage Month, allowing the municipality to raise awareness and resources that help celebrate the
