Revisiting the Ford Street crossing City o cials have previously discussed how best to address tubers crossing Ford Street, whether at the 10th Street intersection or over the bridge.

While the city might pursue a tra c signal over the bridge and/or an improved tra c signal at 10th Street in the future, on weekends this summer, e pedestrian crossing on the north side of the bridge is now gone, she said, and city sta has put up fencing to prevent people from crossing there. ey’ll either cross under the bridge when the water levels are better, over the bridge on the south side, or at 10th Street.

Lorentz said Golden will crossing guards stationed on the south side of the bridge.

Tubers and other pedestrians walking west from Vanover Park has been an ongoing problem, city o cials described, as “throngs of people” cross Ford Street at will and hold up tra c.

Vargo emphasized how the theme for this summer — and likely the summers to come — is “incremental improvement.” e city wants to improve user experience a little more each year, and adapt to problems and user needs as they arise, all while collecting more data along the corridor.

“I’m really excited to see a lot of the di erent changes and data collection that we have coming this year,” he said.

Mayor Laura Weinberg felt likewise, thanking city sta members for all their hard work getting the Clear Creek corridor ready for this summer. “It’s great to see all the new pieces being enacted,” she said.
