Dana Paul Crocker

10/4/1962 - 5/29/2021

Dana Paul Crocker, also known to many as “Daytona Dana”, age 58, of Littleton, CO passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, on May 29, 2021. Born October 4, 1962 and a native to Colorado where he lived in Aurora, CO until age 23 then moved to ousand Oaks, CA until 1999, before returning to the mile-high state.

He is survived by his daughter, Shanda Tillman ( ancé Chris) of Ri e, CO; grandson, Ryatt Hunter; mother, Paula (Husband Leon) Meurer of Parker, CO; father Dave (Wife Kay) Crocker of Fox eld, CO; stepmother Jo Doornbos of Paradise Valley, AZ; brother Darren (Wife Lacy) Crocker of Brighton, CO; brother Vernon Doornbos of Parker, CO; sister Susie (Husband Louis) LoSasso of Aurora, CO; nephew Colton ( ancée Meghan) Crocker, niece Kayla Doornbos, nephew Joey LoSasso, and nieces Makenna Crocker and Gracie Crocker.

Dana had countless friends that he met along his life’s journey. He always went out of his way to help people and quickly befriended everyone he met. Pshhhh...he was the life of the party! Racing to the nish line a little earlier than anticipated, #78 - Daytona Dana - will no doubt race around heaven leaving rubber on the shiny white pearl roads as he takes the turns as fast as he can “around the outside”. e air may be a little thinner there, but that won’t stop him from tuning his carb and outrunning the best of the best.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Crocker Residence, 14121 Country Hills Drive, Brighton, CO on Sunday, July 18th, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of owers, the family asks that donations be made in Dana’s honor to his favorite non-pro t, Sparkling Kindness that helps those in need and sheds light on any darkness with a motto of “We rise by lifting others” just as Dana has done all through his life. www.sparklingkindness.org Venmo: @sparkling-kindness

Fort Lupton City Council approved an $850,00 purchase agreement with FTL Land Assemblage LLP for a new building and land for the Fort Lupton Public & School Library. The June 15 vote was unanimous.

Two acres of land near the new location of Dale’s Pharmacy on state Highway 52 east of Main Street will be the library’s new home. The Weld RE-8 School District approved its part of the purchase plan earlier this month. The district is not a financial partner in the sale, though.

More money matters

Council delayed two payment plans totaling almost $!50,000 to CH2M Hill Engineers for work related to a force main and lift station to take wastewater to the Metro Wastewater Reclamation District north area plant.

One of the contracts deals with planning, permitting and design of the station. The other deals with an update to the city’s utility plan that will be in line with the “selected alternative for treatment based upon the outcome of a lift station and routing study,” according to council’s June 15 agenda.

Assistant city manager Glenda McCarroll told council she was hoping the federal government would help pay for the plans.

“We need to verify that,” McCarroll said in asking for the delay.

“Do you want to do this in two steps?” Stieber asked.

“Yes,” McCarroll replied.

The next discussion is set for Tuesday, July 6.

Council tables changes to pot sale ordinance

Sta asks for time to draft options for licensing, sale and taxing of marijuana

BY STEVE SMITH SSMITH@COLORADOCOMMUNITYMEDIA.COM

Fort Lupton City Council tabled three ordinances to establish new parts of the city code to deal with retail and medical marijuana during its June 15 meeting.

The three ordinances -- all up for second reading -- eventually will add new articles to the city code for regulations, licensing and taxing of the sale of retail and medical marijuana.

The next planned discussion is Tuesday, July 20. City Attorney Andy Ausmus asked for the delay.

“We have several developments to go through regarding the ordinances,” he told council. “We want to give you several options for council review. We had a good, productive meeting with the head of the marijuana enforcement division. We’re trying to make sure we get this right. That’s where some municipalities have fallen short.”

“I’m in agreement,” Mayor Zo Stieber said.

Part of that help could come from a contract council approved with the Circuit Clerk for services to the city. Those include reviewing the city’s proposed ordinances, providing comparative information on licensing processes and creating documents to process licenses.

The fee is $80 per hour for no travel and $800 a day for travel, according to the council agenda. The contract is not to exceed $5,000. Payment can include expenses. The city has the right to pay expenses above the $5,000 budget figure.
