Multiplying a positive number by another positive number gives a positive number. Multiplying a negative number by a positive number gives a negative number. Multiplying a negative number by a negative number results in a positive number. To summarise this: (–) × (+) = (–), (+) × (+) = (+) and (–) × (–) = (+)
