1 Solve the clues “Drop me in, see if I win!” said Shinoy. He was reading from a piece of card in the shape of a rabbit, which had been stapled to a wooden pole. “Why are we doing this?” groaned Myra. “We’re not five.” “I know, I know,” Shinoy agreed, “but you know what Mum and Dad are like.” Flat Hill’s springtime “Follow the Rabbit Treasure Hunt” was a family tradition. Every year it was the kids against the adults, to see who could solve the puzzles the quickest.

“The bridge!” said Shinoy excitedly. “Where we used to drop twigs into the stream and watch them race.” Myra didn’t seem interested. “Come on,” said Shinoy, “it might be fun.” She rolled her eyes but followed on behind him as he ran off. At the bridge, there was another rabbit cut-out with a clue.

“We don’t park and ride, we only darkslide,” read Myra, looking confused. “Darkslide!” laughed Shinoy. “That’s a skateboard move. There’s no way Mum and Dad will know that. But there are a few skateboard parks around here – and what does ‘park and ride’ mean?” “It’ll be the skateboard area built on an old car park,” said Myra.

“Are you sure this is the right park?” asked Shinoy, when they got to the skate park. Just then, his phone beeped and a red blinking message read, “Follow the Rabbit!” “Wow!” said Shinoy. “They’ve gone high tech this year – brilliant!” Myra didn’t look sure. “Really? The Bowls Club organises this. They don’t seem the techy type.”

A map appeared on Shinoy’s phone, with a blinking red rabbit moving slowly along. “Come on,” said Shinoy, pointing. “It’s moving this way.”

2 Follow the rabbit!
They ran along the winding path towards the woods. “There!” shouted Myra. “What is it?” “I’m not sure, but it looked like it was … hopping!” “Watch out for the –” Myra stepped in a pile of rabbit droppings. They banged and cracked loudly as she squished them. 8
