Day 7: Húsavík - Snæfellsnes Peninsula Stykkishólmur Head to Stykkishólmur, the gateway to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, and see the Snæfellsjökull ice cap. Stop at a wool factory, one of the remaining shops still using 100% Icelandic wool. Enjoy some time on your own to explore the quaint fishing town of Stykkishólmur. (B, D) Day 8: Stykkishólmur - Vatnshellir Cave Snæfellsjökull Glacier Experience Continue through the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Journey 100 feet below the ground in an 8,000-year-old lava tube on a tour of Vatnshellir Cave. See stalagmites and experience absolute darkness. Back in the light of day, gear up to ascend the Snæfellsjökull glacier via mountain truck! Join your mountain guides for a tasting of local specialties. Then, it’s your choice! Gear up with crampons and an ice pick to join an expert on a hike on a glacier -OR- hike through lava fields with a guide. (B)

This tour requires a passport. Our air passengers will arrive into and depart from Reykjavík. Airport transfers are available for purchase. Due to flight schedules, a pre or post night may be required in some Icelandair gateway cities (at an additional cost). Please inquire at time of reservation. Due to tour scheduling, arrival flights should arrive prior to 10:00 a.m. The internal flight is not included in the land cost of your tour. This flight needs to be arranged and purchased separately if you arrange your own air.

Day 9: Stykkishólmur - Borgarnes - Blue Lagoon - Reykjavík Learn about a 400-year-old tradition of catching Greenland shark. Try hákarl (cured shark meat). Dive into Icelandic heritage and visit the Settlement Museum. Visit the Blue Lagoon. Take a dip in the mineral-rich waters located in the middle of a dramatic lava field. Enjoy a farewell dinner.
