DIED: Ashby Dunn Scott on July 22, 2016. At Collegiate, she was a member of the Glee Club and the Gold Team. She was also chairman of the Cafeteria Committee and a Gift and Welfare Committee

representative. Ashby received a BA in elementary education from Converse College. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rockingham, NC. She dedicated her life to her family and fought a long and courageous battle with multiple sclerosis. Ashby was preceded in death by her husband, Legrand Thurman Scott. She is survived by her daughters, Mardi Scott Smith and Jane Scruggs; five grandchildren, Mariah Smith Buyers, Chelsea Smith, Charles Scruggs, Legrand Scruggs and Ashby Scruggs; and two great-grandchildren, Kinsley and John Beverly.
DIED: Joly Duesberry on Aug. 5, 2016, of pancreatic cancer. At Collegiate, she sang in the Glee Club, was vice president of French Club and was a member of Latin Club and Science Club. She was also a Match representative. After graduating from Smith College, she earned a master’s degree from the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University. Joly was a landscape painter who received a Woodrow Wilson scholarship and a National Endowment for the Arts grant. Her work resides in museums in New York, Maine, Virginia, California, Denver Art
50th Reunion
It’s not too late to join us as we celebrate our 50th Reunion with classmates during the weekend of Nov. 4–5, 2016. Abigail Suzanne Gold, daughter of James and Wendy Galston Gold, was married to Eric Leigh Geller on Nov. 14, 2015, in New York City. Wendy writes, “Abby was honored to wear the Stevens/Purcell family veil. Riker and Ginny Stevens Purcell were there to celebrate with us.”

Bryce Powell was recently featured in Richmond Times-Dispatch’s Homes section for his work as a residential developer. He is president of Midlothian Enterprises and has developed more than 2,600 lots in 16 communities over the course of his career. Instead of churning out houses, though, Bryce prefers to focus on the architectural and landscaping details of his communities. His business partner, James Schnell, helps with the architectural standards. Midlothian Enterprises’ communities include Mooreland Commons, Randolph Square and The Meadows at Joe Brooke Farm.

DIED: Alvaro Faubel Frauendorff on March 30, 2016. He was an AFS student from Valencia, Spain, who lived with the Pinnell family (Bucky Pinnell and Anne Pinnell Harper ’65). At Collegiate, he played soccer. He went on to become CEO of Natra, an international corporation founded by his father. He was also CEO of Torre Oria, a division of
