In May, the band Fennario played the SpeakUp Revolution Party in the infield of Richmond International Raceway. The band, made up of mostly Cougar alums, was one of a handful on stage for the all-day event held to raise awareness and support for the Cameron K. Gallagher Memorial Foundation. Elizabeth Woodroof Cogar held a weekend event called Makeshop Crafts Camp at Nimrod Hall in Bath County in July. Stewart Watkins Allen ’89 was a teacher and Collegiate drama teacher Jenny Hundley was one of the participants. “We had a great time at Nimrod, an incredibly beautiful place that has inspired creativity for many years.”

This past spring, Mark Shuford became a named partner with Spencer Shuford LLP. Mark joined Spencer LLP in March 2013, providing business

In June, Mark Claud was featured in Richmond Times‑Dispatch’s Metro Business section. Mark is president and chief executive officer of Commonwealth Commercial Partners, a commercial real estate brokerage firm that has seen significant expansion in recent years. In addition to property and asset management, CCP also does commercial sales and leasing, land sales, project management, hospitality management and fund management. Mark credits the success of the company to a talented team of employees.

DIED: Tom Longan on June 15, 2015. At Collegiate, he was on the track and football teams and sang in the chorus. After graduating from Benedictine, he went on to earn a BS from Virginia Commonwealth University. Tom worked in a variety of sales positions in the software industry. The loves of his life were his Bassett hounds, Madison, Gretchen,
Echo and Tulip. He also loved music, documentaries and exploring Richmond eats. He was predeceased by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. William J. Longan. He is survived by his brother, Bill Longan and wife, Cabell Smith Longan ’71; sister, Barbara Longan Teague ’73 and husband, David Teague; nephew, Robert Longan; and nieces, Molly Longan ’02, Lindsay Teague, Lara Curry and husband, Liam Curry.

John Harper has opened the Backyard Grill, a restaurant at 443 N. Ridge Road in Richmond (the former Bogart’s space). Backyard Grill serves food you would make in your backyard – grilled chicken, barbecue, brisket, house‑made bread and burgers.
