Abyss (aka Derrick Graham) is a poet, musician, poet, activist, teacher, father, and husband the Southern Collective Experience is blessed to have on our team. I first met Abyss at the eighth taping of Dante’s Old South (our NPR show in Chattanooga, TN) and immediately built a solid repertoire. Over the next few months a brotherhood was forged, and with a tad of arm twisting, he joined the SCE. In this piece we get a taste of the incredible history he has, amazing things he’s doing, and where he’s headed with each new day.
