Fresno, California Madai Nunez and her 8-year-old neighbour Amy live in a migrant worker motel in downtown Fresno, California. During the day, Amy and her friends play in the parking lot where Nunez is keeping an eye on the children while their parents work in the fields for $8 an hour. At night, the mood at the motel changes when the men, after a long day of physical labour, start drinking to unwind. Fights are common, and at times, prostitutes come knocking on doors looking for business, sometimes with their babies in tow.
