Harry Friedman spent h is two week summer holiday in the So viet Union, visiting Leningrad, Tal inn and other places in the Baltic republic of Estonia. Stay ing with local families proved to be a good way to meet the natives as well as to catch a glimpse of a country in transition. Harry found that the people felt very free to speak their minds-Estonians were very quick to point out that they are an occupied country and 66
would rather not be. Travel and life there is one long hassle, Harry a i d , and noth ing i easy. Leningrad, the most Westernized Russian city, is very crowded. All in all, an interesting place to visit but not to live! . . . Peter Clark also did some traveling lastyear and some fishing. He spent a week in the Alaskan bush, fly fishing for salmon with Ed Cronick, and a weekend in the Florida Keys tarpon fishing with Curt Gowdy, J r. . . . For a New Year change, John Mosley decided to leave management, Massachusetts and New Hampshire behind and re turn to the Portland area with hi family-wife Carol, Sarah, 9, and Christopher, 5 1/2. For the last four years he had managed a John Hancock general agency, but he found he missed working with client and living in Maine. Besides coach ing Little League, hockey and soccer, Joe plays football in an over-30's league along with Bob Landsvik. For four years now, they have held an LCA reunion game with a strong showing of former Colby LCAs.
