OUR STORY COCOLILI is the brainchild of Furaha Bishota, an accomplished fashionpreneur born in the US of Tanzanian and Kenyan parents. Furaha has had a long-held love for fashion and while at university worked at The Gap, Banana Republic, and Victoria Secret, where she gained a wealth of retail experience. Furaha also has a distinguished career in the world of accounting, audit and development banking, a background which has been instrumental in her success. In 1999 when Furaha moved back to Africa, she saw a gap in the retail sector. In 2016, she launched COCOLILI, a contemporary premium fashion brand that reflects her African identity. The brand reimagines themes and motifs which paint colorful symbols of her African heritage. The uniqueness of the brand lies in its prints. In 2022, the brand introduced the swimshop, an independent swimwear line offering bikinis and one pieces made from high perfomance sustainable Italian techno-fabrics resistant to chlorine, suntan creams and oils. The fabrics are recycled from pre and post consumer materials making the swimwear long lasting and inviting for a global audience keen to embrace slow fashion. COCOLILI has featured in numerous local and global platforms. In 2018, the brand was among 10 African designer brands selected to show case at Coterie in New York City as part of the United Nations’ Conscious Fashion campaign. In 2019, the brand's Lulu jumpsuit featured in ‘Good Thing” a music video by the Nigerian singer Asa. The brand has also featured on LTOM on France Television, Ethiopian Airlines and Kenya Airways in flight magazines, Irish Times, Elle Magazine Cote d’Ivoire, Couture Africa Moov’in Dak a Senegalese fashion magazine and on the Kenya National Television channel. In February 2023, COCOLILI debuted its swimwear at New York Fashion Week.
