COBB COUNTY OPENS GEORGIA’S FIRST PUMP TRACK

This spring, the first Velosolutions pumptrack in Georgia was unveiled at Pitner Bike Park by Cobb County PARKS. A pumptrack, an innovative play park feature gaining popularity in public spaces, is designed for wheeled sports equipment. When used correctly, riders maintain momentum through a "pumping" action instead of pedaling or pushing.

Kids love them, amateurs love them, pros love them. Pumptracks should be in every town just like kids’ playgrounds or soccer fields. Pumptracks get people involved sports, get them together, get them to have fun outside and do something for their health!”- Claudio Caluori, Founder, Velosolutions

FOR WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY 2024

WE CALL FOR PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD TO

END THE STEREOTYPES END THE STEREOTYPES

On March 21st, the Cobb PARKS therapeutic recreation program recognized the uniqueness of the triplication of the 21st chromosome that leads to Down syndrome. World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is observed globally on March 21st, recognized by the United Nations since 2012.

Every individual is unique, including those with Down syndrome or intellectual disabilities, each with their distinct identity, interests, preferences, strengths, and talents, just like anyone else. Down syndrome or intellectual disability is just one aspect of their overall identity.

Watch this video to learn about stereotypes and why they stop us from living the lives we want to live.

This video was planned and recorded by members of the Down Syndrome International network.

The FED wellness weekend was designed to empower individuals to prioritize self-care and discover new ways to nurture their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The program combined arts activities, animal therapy, and traditional park methods to offer emotional expression, stress relief, and physical movement in a natural setting.

Additionally, this program promoted community bonding through shared experiences, combating feelings of isolation and loneliness often associated with individual self-care.
