In April, heroism in the Pacific was honored with events in Hawaii and California. At the Tribute to the Fourteenth Coast Guard District, Coast Guard mission excellence from throughout the Pacific was honored. The event was chaired by Matthew J. Cox, chairman and CEO of Matson, Inc. and included an address by VADM Peter Neffenger, Vice Commandant and RADM Cari B. Thomas, Commander of the Fourteenth Coast Guard District. Our Pacific Area Awards Dinner in San Francisco featured three awards. SK3 Noel Cordero, a storekeeper stationed aboard Coast Guard Cutter Alex Haley, was awarded the Admiral James S. Gracey Award for exemplifying professionalism, devotion to duty, and excellence of the service. The crew of Alex Haley also earned the Admiral John B. Hayes

This year more than $50,000 was raised and over 1,400 Run to Remember T-shirts bearing the names of the brave individuals who sacrificed it all were purchased to support the Fallen Heroes Fund.
