Business Highlight: Pensacola Yacht Club

In 2023, it’s unbelievably amazing to be told of a space that has existed since the early 1900s. Yet, on the waters of Pensacola’s coast, the Pensacola Yacht Club has brought the community together for over a century. Today, the business continues running its private club while hosting weddings, business meetings, festivals, youth programs, and non-profit events for the local community.

HIDDEN HISTORY:
The Pensacola Yacht Club was chartered in 1908, a time when Pensacola’s economy was booming from its bustling ports and maritime developments. With a baffling annual membership fee of $6 at the time, PYC’s goal was to advance boating skills and host motorboat race competitions. “These races were popular with the citizens and provided opportunities for families to picnic along the waterfront and cheer on their favorite skippers.” Today, the clubhouse stands as a historic landmark, continuing its legacy of bringing Pensacola’s boating community and families together.
THE VIBE:
All 17 of The Pensacola Yacht Club acres are breathtaking, from its vibrantly green lawn to its Emerald Coast waterfront. The elegant decor contributes to its light and airy atmosphere.

WHAT WE LOVE THE MOST:
Experience! It’s not only the club that has a long history! Scott, the clubhouse manager, has worked at Pensacola Yacht Club for over 11 years, alongside many long-term employees. The wedding team is motivated and overall knows how to have a good time!
Committed! “A lot of what we do for our parties are individually customized. We work with all ranges of budgets. So we start the process by saying ‘Give me your wishlist. What’s your dream wedding? What do you want to do?’ Then from there, we start working on invoices, we start working on planning, and then we present it. Then, we either start adding to it or subtracting until we can find that happy medium that is going to please everyone.” Scott states.
Prepared! Wedding coordinators for the venue are present during the wedding to make sure everything runs smoothly. The Club offers both indoor and outdoor spaces. In the case of bad weather at an outdoor wedding, it is easy to revert the ceremony to the indoor ballroom. If anything goes wrong, the coordinators are superb problem solvers, fixing the problem before you even knew there was one!

TO CONCLUDE...
When Pensacola Yacht Club says that it is the “South’s Finest Yacht Club”, it truly lives up to its name. It is a beautiful, historic landmark and encompasses the lively energy of Pensacola that locals and visitors have always loved.
