The run that Carpinteria kids, grown-ups and educators look forward to all year sprinted through town and across the bluffs on March 18. Orchard to Ocean saw everyone from wee ones to grannies moving their bodies for the good of local schools. Orchestrated by Carpinteria Education Foundation, the annual event raises funds for Carpinteria Unified School District. Hundreds of athletes compete in the 10-kilometer and 5-kilometer races, and kiddos work their muscles in the 1-mile fun run.

speedsters, from left, Ricky ho, Matt organista, Gregorio Perez and Matt Trost celebrate their impressive finishes. Ho ran both the 10K and 5K, finishing in first and third in 36:03 and 16:35 respectively. Organista came in first in the 5K in 16:14. Perez, 60, finished the 5K in 21:53 for second in his age division. Trost, 49, ran the 5K in 18:20 for second in his age division.
