Dual Enrollment Graduation 82% More than Last Year

Coastal Bend College dual enrollment awarded 82% more certificates and degrees in May 2018 than in May 2017. 46 Associate degrees were awarded this May for students who had not yet graduated high school, a more than 200% increase from last year. In 2017, 122 dual enrollment students received a marketable skills achievement award compared to 259 students this year.

In addition to the growth in the dual enrollment awards granted, more high schools are partnering with CBC dual enrollment to offer college-level accredited courses and expand on the courses offered for students in their school.

A new study from the Community College Research Center found that dual enrollment programs are “associated with positive outcomes on such measures as high school graduation and college enrollment rates, college grade point averages and progress toward college completion.” With that said, we will continue to grow our dual enrollment program with the expectation that these students will continue on.
