Aerial Trimming Takes Off in January

VEC uses the services of Aerial Solutions Inc. to cut right-of-way in areas that are difficult to reach with ground crews. The versatility and speed of the helicopter’s aerial saw provides an efficient and cost-effective alternative to conventional side-trimming methods in all types of terrain with little to no environmental impact. Members in the following areas can expect to see the helicopter cutting over the next several months: Frederick County: Gainesboro, Hayfield, Shawneeland Shenandoah County: Bryce, Edinburg, Quicksburg, Mt. Jackson Page County: Bentonville, Carvel, Rileyville Rockingham County: Broadway, Fulks Run, Timberville Augusta County: McKinley, Trimbles Mill, West Staunton

peration Round Up, SVEC’s charitable-giving program, ended 2023 by supporting 10 area nonprofits in its third and final grant cycle. A grant selection committee awarded $16,000 overall to the recipients, as listed below. Grant funding builds as co-op members voluntarily round up their electric bills each month, supplemented by a corporate contribution from SVEC’s board of directors. More than $60,000 was awarded across the three giving cycles in 2023. Since Operation Round Up began in 2018, nearly $250,000 in grants have been distributed.
