($150) ($1000) The identification of this piece hinges on the deconstruction of the monogram. A similar monogram on a bronze nummus (Belfort 5462) is attributed to Theodebert I. This monogram lacks the B, and might be construed as Theodoricvs. Another nummus (MEC 388) attributed to Theodoric has a quite different monogram. A piece with a clear mint name (METTIS CIV ITA?) would resolve the problem.
