IMP CAES C PESCEN NIGER IVST ΛV, laureate head right / ΛETER[NIT]ΛTIS ΛVG, upturned crescent with seven stars above. Cf. RIC IV 1; cf. RSC 1; cf. BMCRE, p. 71, †; cf. CNG E-196, lot 300 (all refs. for type). Good VF, find patina, traces of bronze core degeneration. Extremely rare. ($500) 818. Pescennius Niger. AD 193-194. AR Denarius (18mm, 2.95 g, 12h). Antioch mint. IMP CΛES C PESC NIG ER IVCT ΛV C[...], laureate head right / CERER FRVG, Ceres standing left, holding grain ears and torch. Cf. RIC IV 7 and note (for type); RSC 12 var. (obv. legend); BMCRE 291 (same); New York Sale XXV, lot 204 (same dies). Good VF, traces of underlying luster, hairline flan crack. ($2000)
