1630. REPUBLIC of C H I N A . Year 1 (1916). AR Dollar (26.39 gm). Wuchang mint. Yuan Shih-kai on horseback right / Imperial house. Kann -; Bruce XM1390. Toned EF. ($150) This coin is a non-circulating issue struck in base silver on a thick flan with reeded edges.

The first coin is struck in good silver on a thinner flan with plain edges. This "Hung Hsien Commemorative Dollar" is a non-circulating issue struck to commemorate Yuan Shih-kai. He was president of the Republic, but declared himself emperor in December of 1915, surviving 60 days thereafter.
