792.1 Trikka. Late 4th to early 3rd centuries BC. Æ Trichalkon (19mm, 8.19 g, 1h). Head of nymph Trikke r. wearing pendant earring; border of dots / [TPI]KKAI l. up, [ΩN] r. down, Asklepios, draped but with his torso bare, seated r. on stool, his staff leaning on his l. shoulder, holding dove in his r. hand and offering it to a snake coiled l. facing him; F under stool. Rogers 557 corr., fig. 314 var. [the seated Asklepios in Rogers’ fig. 314 has a beard; the text and the photos in Rogers have probably been mixed up as his fig. 312, described as bearded, is clearly without a beard; no monogram under the stool]. Good Fine, dark green patina with few traces of bronze showing under the high relief surfaces. 792.2 Trikka. Late 4th to early 3rd centuries BC. Æ Trichalkon (20mm, 9.11 g, 4h). Head of nymph Trikke left, wearing plain necklace and elaborate pendant earring; behind her neck, F / TPIKKAIΩ[N] l. up (top parts of letters off flan), bearded Asklepios, draped but with his torso bare, seated r. on stool with curved back, his staff leaning on his l. shoulder, holding dove in his r. hand and offering it to a snake coiled l. facing him. SNG Alpha Bank 281 (same dies). Good Fine, dark green patina with traces of overstriking on the obverse and some bronze showing on the reverse under a scuff; rare, late type, with obverse to left. There is a Phalanna obverse die signed with the same monogram (see above lot 593.2) and it is quite likely that we are dealing with the same die cutter. The style and fabric of these coins belong to the 3rd century BC.
Tripolis
(IACP 459) Tripolis was formed from the synoikismos of three towns in Perrhaibia: Azoros, Doliche, and Pythion. There are some ruins but little has been investigated and virtually nothing is known about the site. There are some coins attributed to the city, all extremely rare bronzes dating to the 2nd quarter of the 4th century BC.

Liampi 1990, p. 16 (obv.=V2, rev.=new); see also Lanz 151 (30 June 2011) 379 and Nomos 4, 1361 for the same obv. die. Good Fine, dark chocolate brown patina with dark red areas; an extremely rare coin. ($150) A new reverse die for the few known specimen of this interesting coinage struck, as its name implies, on behalf of three cities.
