Celebrating Literacy Week Florida 2012 at Aventura Waterways K-8 Center

Mayor Edelcup reading to the students

To start the festivities prepared to celebrate Literacy Week Florida 2012, Mayor Edelcup read a book to the children in Mrs. Gordon’s 2nd grade Dual Language Class at Aventura Waterways K-8 Center. On this day, the students in the 2nd grade Dual Language class had the opportunity to interact with Mayor Edelcup and Commissioner Gatto as they are learning about the government. This was a fantastic educational experience not only to foster love for reading, but to strengthen the children’s understanding about community leaders and the government. The students in the Dual Language program receive instruction in both languages English and Spanish.
