Did you know?

ALL STUDENTS are REQUIRED to have an acceptable form of health insurance. How do you enroll in UC SHIP? Every student is automatically enrolled in UC SHIP, however student’s may choose to waive SHIP at any point if they have another form of insurance benefits (ie. Parent’s insurance, Medi-Cal, etc).

University of California Student Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP)

As the university’s health insurance for students, UC SHIP provides vision, dental, and medical coverage including primary and urgent care through Anthem Blue Cross. Learn more about UC SHIP at https://shcs.ucdavis.edu/insurance/ship/

Primary Care Is Your First Stop!

Primary care is routinely known as the first line of care an individual would receive. Primary care physicians generally treat a wide range of common illnesses in addition to health assessments including physicals.

Students can receive primary care ON CAMPUS through: The Student Health and Wellness Center! A part of UC Davis Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) Visit SHCS online at: http://shcs.ucdavis.edu/about/shwc

Services are available to all registered students, regardless of insurance. Cost: $15 for all registered students As a registered UC Davis student, no payment is necessary at the time you are seen. Your student account will be billed.

Further treatment needed? No Problem!

A referral can be made, if necessary, from an SHCS Physician for outside or specialist care. Many in-house specialists in areas including Endocrinology, Neurology, Psychiatry, and Orthopedics!

Got a Prescription? Need a Refill?

Located on the first floor of the Student Health and Wellness Center is the pharmacy Get your prescription filled and/or find a wide array of Over the Counter (OTC) drugs All charges including prescription and OTC drugs are billed to your student account.

Need Advice on taking a medication? The pharmacist is available for brief advice or counseling for concerns or questions!

Got Blurry Vision or Trouble Seeing? No Problem!

Vision and eye care are available on campus! Located within the Student Health and Wellness Center is the Optometry Clinic and Optical Shop The clinic treats common vision problems including blurry vision and trouble seeing at night as well as eye exams and fittings for both corrective or contact lens and eye glasses.

Concerned about your teeth or is time for a cleaning?

Through UC SHIP, enrolled students are covered by the provider, Delta Dental, and can receive dental care from many dentists around Davis and anywhere else!
