There is a wonderful diversity between the north and south sections of the city, with South Redondo along the beachfront with the pier and marina/harbor complex; and North Redondo, an eclectic, family oriented inland community. The city’s population has been growing in the past decade, and it’s no wonder. Redondo Beach is home to a number of unique neighborhoods. South Redondo has wide streets, wide sand beaches and a laid-back feel that make it a prime destination for those seeking the quintessential California beach town experience. With several close-knit neighborhoods, Riviera Village completes the area’s charming, seaside vibe. With more than 300 unique restaurants, retail shops and services, residents can ride a bike or stroll along the streets lined with some of the city’s most distinctive boutiques, art galleries and craft studios. A number of day spas, yoga studios, and fitness centers also call the area home. North Redondo is primarily residential but is dotted with commercial space, too. With some great family-run shops and a mix of both old-fashioned eateries and fast casual

North Redondo Beach is home to the South Bay Galleria, and a revitalized Artesia Boulevard providing some great shopping options. The Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, the Los Angeles Ballet, Kala Koa Entertainment, as well as a number of community events including the annual North Redondo Beach Springfest – a spring carnival and community festival – have become favorite traditions for many. With a diverse range of cultural and entertainment events, North Redondo Beach is a fun, vibrant place to be. With their “Starting a Business Quick List” the Chamber provides step by step instruction and access to assistance for a number of business development tasks. From

REDONDO BEACH / LIVING assisting new members navigate resources to helping them gain and make the most of their exposure, the Chamber is committed to business success. The City also invests in new business, and their Business Assistance effort is aimed at providing information and assistance to established as well as new businesses in the area. The Economic Development and Business Resources on the City website offer everything from assistance with site selection and permits to zoning guidance. The South Bay Workforce Investment Board also provides programs that support our local business development and success. Their One-Stop Employment Center can help growing businesses find well-trained people to hire, even paying part of their initial salary. With Transitional Subsidized Employment, the Board provides entry-level workers (30-40 hours per week) to which business owners do not have to pay wages for two months. If they permanently hire the worker, the business becomes eligible for a temporary subsidy payment to offset the salary.

The City boasts 13 parks and 15 parkettes, providing residents with acres and acres of green space, play equipment, sports facilities, picnic areas and more. The City also has numerous new walking trails,

Strolling Seaside Lagoon/Moonstone Park’s 2.2 mile trail also delivers some spectacular views of the Harbor and features the famous “Whaling Wall.” The Dominguez Park Trail covers 2.8 miles of ocean views and passes the Beach Cities Health District Campus on the way to Dominguez Park, home of the famous

5-star “Dog Park.” The Pier/Veterans Park Trail is another popular choice, and takes visitors along the Redondo Beach Pier and through the historic Veterans Park. With an almost unlimited number of outdoor options to help residents stay active, some of healthiest food options available, and world class healthcare, residents are focused on getting healthy and staying that way. One tremendous organization designed to help them do that is the Beach Cities Health District (BCHD). Focused on improving well-being at every stage of life, BCHD, one of the largest preventative health agencies in the nation, has served the communities of Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach since 1955. BCHD offers free programs and services to residents, many of which focus on increasing physical activity. From the annual summer free fitness series featuring Yoga on the Beach and Zumba in the Park, to partnering with local exercise studios to provide free classes and organizing walking school buses and morning exercise routines for elementary students, BCHD has people moving. BCHD is also working with cities to reengineer neighborhoods to be more walkable, bikable, and pedestrian-friendly. The organizationâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s efforts have paid off as according to a 2017 Gallup poll, exercise rates continue to steadily increase.

In 2012, BCHD began to contemplate how generations of people could live longer, healthier, happier lives, and partnered with the Blue Zones Project to answer that question. Blue Zones is a community-wide approach to creating healthier and more productive citizens, with environmental and policy changes to motivate residents to adopt and maintain healthier lifestyles. By asking residents, businesses, restaurants, schools, and grocery stores to take the Blue Zones Project Pledge, BCHD began a movement to make the community a healthier, happier place to live, work and play. As a result of the Pledge, individuals and families are making simple changes today that will have a big impact on their health in the future. In fact, according to Gallup-Healthways, BCHD’s Blue Zones Project is estimated to have saved $21 million in direct medical costs since 2010.

In Redondo Beach, many pre-school age children get their start at one of the two Beach Cities Child Development Centers. ince 1907, the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce has provided a platform for local entrepreneurs to grow their businesses by taking the lead in programs and efforts that help create a strong local economy and community. To provide more value to our local entrepreneurs, the Chamber is pleased to announce that they have joined forces with Tudigo, the leader of local crowdfunding, to launch a crowdfunding platform: Redondo Chamber Crowdfunding. Now small local businesses and non-profits will be able to find the funds they need to start and grow their business through the support of local community members. On the other side, the residents of Redondo Beach will have an opportunity to support organizations they believe in, including local shops as they walk down the street every day, and thus contributing to building a healthy and vibrant community. The platform will be launched in the summer of 2018 and will support initiatives such as the creation or revitalization of local stores and small businesses or non-profits while focusing on projects that have an important territorial, social or environmental impact. Entrepreneurs will have two different types of funding options. One is called rewardbased funding, a Kickstarter-like crowdfunding process where people fund a particular business in exchange for a product or a service this business can provide. The second model is equity-based crowdfunding where people become minority shareholders of the company by exchanging capital for shares. Want to raise funds? Once your project has been accepted, a coach will be assigned to helping you build your campaign and make it a success.
