To everyone using this resource, I cannot express strongly enough our appreciation for your support of The Columbia Montour Chamber of Commerce and our 400+ members. This support has allowed us to continually assist area businesses and non-profit organizations through the unprecedented challenges of the past year. Because of you, our area remains vibrant and well positioned for growth, and the Columbia Montour Chamber of Commerce is as strong as ever. In the Spring of 2020, when it felt like the world was coming unglued, I was concerned about what the pandemic might mean for the Chamber of Commerce as an organization that relies on the support of local organizations. When times are challenging and finances become tight, voluntary memberships can often be among the first things eliminated. However, our members recognized the value that the Chamber of Commerce provided, and I believe that is a testament to the incredible work done each day on your behalf by our dedicated staff. While working remotely, the Chamber continuously provided timely, accurate information related to government orders, safety protocols, and financial assistance programs. We connected members with resources for personal protective equipment and other needs. Our Foundation also supported front line health care workers by locating supplies and helping members provide comfort items. Members also recognized the power of speaking with one voice. The Chamber of Commerce was not shy in its role of representing area employers. We pushed back when restrictions were overreaching, yet worked to promote safe practices for employers and employees to follow. Our collective voice is further strengthened by our regular engagement with the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry and U.S. Chamber of Commerce. As we move forward, the needs of local employers and communities will continue to evolve. I welcome your feedback and ideas in the Chamber’s five focus areas: advocacy, member benefits, business connections, employee development, and strengthening our communities. Your utilization of the organizations listed in this Directory will help to keep our area vibrant by supporting businesses and non-profit organizations that provide local jobs, tax revenue to our communities, and contribute our outstanding quality of life. AREA INFORMATION Located in the heart of Pennsylvania, Columbia and Montour counties oﬀer vibrant communities surrounded by relaxed, rural and rustic settings. Both counties feature ample shopping, dining, year-round recreational and cultural opportunities for residents and visitors. For those who occasionally crave the glow of big city lights, major metropolitan areas such as Philadelphia and New York City are only a few hours away. Bloomsburg Town Square

Strong Communities: Residents and businesses in Columbia and Montour counties appreciate the area’s high quality of life and take an active role in preserving and improving it. Throughout Columbia and Montour counties, enhancement eﬀorts supported by the Chamber of Commerce include: • Maintaining traditional downtown business districts as places people want to visit frequently for essential services, specialty needs, and socializing. • Supporting annual festivals designed to expose people to unique shops, restaurants and cultural opportunities. • Improving the physical appearances of storefronts, sidewalks and streets, addressing parking concerns and working with property owners to ﬁll vacant storefronts. 6 | Membership Directory 2021-2022

Downtown Danville

Dedicated engagement of business owners, community leaders, local government and residents is crucial to the success of these initiatives.

Shopping: In addition to the downtowns, shopping centers featuring major retailers and restaurant chains are located just oﬀ Interstate 80 in Buckhorn and along Route 11 from Berwick to Danville.

Education: Quality educational opportunities exist for every age; from preschool aged children just beginning their studies to adults seeking to further their education or build job skills. • Seven school districts cover primary and secondary education. • The Columbia-Montour Area Vocational Technical School provides additional specialized opportunities for students in grades 9-12. • Several private and parochial schools offer supplemental assistance and full-time alternatives. • Bloomsburg University, located in the Town of Bloomsburg, offers 57 undergraduate degree programs, 66 undergraduate minors and 19 graduate programs. • Geisinger Medical Center is a teaching hospital, training more than 400 residents and fellows each year. • Luzerne County Community College offers day and evening classes and short-term, credit-free classes at their satellite campus in the Berwick Eagles Building. www.ColumbiaMontourChamber.com | 7

AREA INFORMATION Health Care: The health care needs of residents are well met by three hospitals and additional support services. • Offering inpatient, outpatient, medical, surgical, and emergency care in a 90-bed facility. • Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital – Emergency care, obstetrics, women’s health, general and specialized surgeries, psychiatry, and urgent care are offered at this 72-bed facility. • Geisinger Medical Center – Central Pennsylvania’s only Level I Trauma Center, the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, and comprehensive healthcare services with more than 2,000 healthcare processionals on the Danville campus. • A variety of specialized human services agencies offer counseling and assistance for a full range of individual and family situations.

Arts & Entertainment: Columbia and Montour counties provide diverse cultural opportunities for residents and visitors throughout the year. • Bloomsburg Fair – Drawing hundreds of thousands of people to the area each fall, the Fair features exhibits, crafts, family entertainment, nationallyrecognized performers, and plenty of traditional and unique foods. • Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble oﬀers a full schedule of professional, live stage productions and other performances in the community. • Covered Bridge and Arts Festival – Now being held at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds in early October, this festival features more than 400 arts and crafts vendors, tours of the area’s covered bridges and live music. St. Charles Park, Berwick

• The Weis Center for the Performing Arts at Bucknell University oﬀers a full season of performances spanning a wide-range of genres. • Festivals occur throughout the region to celebrate the attributes each town and borough has to oﬀer, including Renaissance Jamboree (Bloomsburg), Spring Fling (Danville), Celebrate Berwick, Danville Heritage Festival, and Riverfest (Berwick). • Summer concerts are held regularly in area parks. • Various mediums of art are featured at the Artspace Gallery and the Exchange in downtown Bloomsburg.

Recreation: From well-manicured parks to unspoiled nature areas, outdoor enthusiasts can boat, fish, bike, camp, golf, and hike within the two counties. Areas such as the Montour Preserve and the Weiser State Forest allow residents to connect with nature minutes from home. Ricketts Glen, located in the Benton area, is a state park best known for its 22-named waterfalls and hiking trails. The park also offers day-use picnicking, fishing, swimming, camping, and cross country skiing. The Susquehanna River’s North Branch winds through the two counties, providing quality fishing and boating opportunities.

Through the support of its more than 400 members, volunteers and a professional staﬀ, the Chamber of Commerce works other economic development partners, human service agencies, and local governments to foster and promote activities that enhance the business climate and preserve and improve the quality of life for residents.
