IT’S TIME TO CELEBRATE THE BEST TELEVISION PRODUCTIONS CREATED BY STUDENTS IN THE FILM AND TELEVISION PROGRAM DURING ITS INAUGURAL YEAR. THE GALA PREMIERES IN THE FALL WITH THE 25TH ANNUAL FILM FESTIVAL. HERE’S A SNEAK PEEK AT THREE SELECTED ENTRIES.

FILM & TELEVISION PROGRAM FEATURES

• Each student does several internships with Hollywood film and television companies. • A vast network of graduates working at giant entertainment corporations such as Disney, ESPN, Netflix, CBS, ABC and Fox Sports. • Participation in film festivals. • Specialized classes like Beginning and Advanced TV/Cinema

Metanoia

A web series written and directed by Gabby Reublin Synopsis: A girl named Emma confronts sexual identity in a college environment.

As director of photography for the web series, Jannell de la Nuez was most often found behind the camera. She also worked closely with the director in determining the desired shot, location scouting and scheduling.

We were really organized and prepared in pre-production, with shot lists, prop lists and call sheets in order. So, we were quickly able to respond to any curveball thrown our way. JANNELL DE LA NUEZ, Senior

VarieTV

A 30-minute sketch comedy created in the Advanced Television Production class Synopsis: Teams of students create five short comedy sketch videos parodying types of TV shows.

Hans’s group created The Tallahassee Talent Jubilee, where contestants from across the nation compete. His group had made videos together before, so their creative process was an experienced team effort in writing, directing and production.

I really enjoyed playing Dante Deception, one of the talent-show contestants. It was a very funny day of shooting and the class in general was such a fun experience. HANS COLE, Senior

Unbound

A dance video choreographed and produced by Kristen Case Synopsis: Unbound uses dance to explore people who want to connect with and learn from other people.

As producer and choreographer, Kristen assembled the team, held casting auditions, rehearsed the dancers, brought in a cinematographer and found funding for the film.

The rehearsals and the dancers’ energy were high points for me— and seeing my dancers have a good time. They still talk about the experience and one of them even declared a dance minor!
