FROM THE CLUB DIRECTOR

From our smallest members to big plans, we’ve got all the highlights you need in this month’s edition of Tamarack Life!

Calling all kids (and parents)! Get ready for non-stop fun with an exclusive and new perk from The Club at Tamarack— complimentary Basecamp at Tamarack! Basecamp started in the summer of 2024 and is Tamarack’s destination for all kids up to age 12 for activities, friendship and learning. From outdoor activities like sledding, skiing, hiking and biking to indoor activities like crafts, movie nights, gaming and snacks, Basecamp has something for even the smallest Tam Fam member! Basecamp will be offering special events during the Club’s more adult focused events like Apres Ski, wine dinners, and karaoke night. Check out their webpage Basecamp - Tamarack Resort, give them a call at 208.325.1025, or just stop by - they are located in the dome next to Snowfront by the main parking lot. We will be adding these events and a special reservation link just for members on our portal soon!

Introducing our Advisory Committee - In February, we launched something exciting—the inaugural meeting of our Club Advisory Committee! We had great discussions, received thoughtful insight and were excited by the care and commitment from our members. The Committee consists of 7 carefully selected Club Members (many suggested by you!) including: Susan Drake, Louise Francesconi, Jas Krdzalic, Peter Lewis, Andrew Morgan, Phil Sander and Dustin Williams. We’re committed to ongoing collaboration—our Advisory Committee will meet quarterly, with plenty of opportunities for communication and dialogue in between, to shape the future of the Club! A big thanks to the dedication of these wonderful members!

Winter may be winding down, but the fun is far from over—the snow is still falling, events are still happening, and memories still to be made before the season ends on April 13th - so get out there!

We are beyond excited for the month of April! This month, we’re going to savor every moment of winter as we close out the season with some incredible events. It all kicks off with our Après Ski Party on April 4th at 5 PM, one of our favorite winter traditions. The energy and joy our members bring to this event make it something truly special. Then, the morning of the 5th, we’ll be at Mid Mountain enjoying pastries and juices—the perfect way to fuel up for pond skim and all the fun activities that follow. Be sure to mark your calendars for the NCAA Championship on April 7th, starting at 6:30 PM, and don’t forget that the Masters Tournament kicks off that same day. As we move deeper into April, we’ll have the pleasure of experiencing Chef Topple’s Member Wine Dinner on April 12th, which is always a highlight. Easter at Tamarack is sure to impress, and we’re looking forward to the Earth Day Trash Pickup. What a month it’s going to be—full of fun, great food, and memorable moments!

SPRING EVENTS

MOREL SEASON

MOTHER’S DAY

As we move into May, we will be staying active through the spring. We’ll be honoring the incredible women in our community with a Mother’s Day High Tea, offering an elegant afternoon of fine teas, delicious treats, and quality time together. For those looking for a more adventurous way to celebrate, the Muddy Mother’s Day 5K will be the perfect excuse to get outside, embrace the elements, and enjoy a fun, lighthearted race through the terrain of “mud season”.

Spring at Tamarack brings one of nature’s most exciting treasures—morel mushrooms! As the snow melts and the forest floor comes to life, it’s the perfect time to get outside and hunt for these elusive, delicious fungi. Morel foraging isn’t just a fun and rewarding adventure— it’s also a unique way to connect with the land and explore Tamarack’s diverse trail systems. Whether you’re a seasoned forager or a first-timer, searching for morels is a fantastic way to embrace the changing season.

To celebrate, we’re offering Guided Morel Hikes and a special Member Wine Dinner. Learn expert tips on where to find morels, how to identify them, and the best ways to prepare them. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy the fresh mountain air, connect with fellow members, and bring home some gourmet treasures from the forest!

4TH OF JULY

The Club at Tamarack is bringing you an unforgettable summer with holiday celebrations, outdoor adventures, and time on the green—plenty of opportunities to make lasting memories. Now’s the time to plan ahead for an epic Independence Day!

FROM THE GREENS

OSPREY MEADOWS GOLF COURSE

Fundamentals! Even the greatest golfer of all time Jack Nicklaus knew this. Each spring Nicklaus would start back at square 1 with his golf coach Jack Grout. This entailed him going through his grip, his posture, and ball position. He would then work through putting all the way up to full swing. This could take weeks to make sure he is where he wanted to be before tournament season.

It’s a great time of year to get with one of our amazing instructors to make sure that you are starting the season on the right track in the Osprey Meadows Simulator.

This has been a great winter for the golf course. The early snow insulated the course and all current holes that have been dug have shown

no signs of damage or decay. This month, we will begin to clear cart paths, greens and tee so that they can come out of hibernation and start to reap the benefits of the sun and heat. During the shoulder season the simulator will remain open with a shift in days of operation. Make sure to schedule your lesson, practice time, or time for you and your friends and family to start to prepare for golf season in Valley County at the end of May. The Nordic Center if currently planned to close April 13th and will begin to transition to the Golf Pro Shop to open in May.

We hope everyone has had an amazing winter and we cant wait to see you in the SIM or on the Course…April 14th we can all start to pray for sunshine.

HARMON KONG

Entrepreneur Harmon Kong has spent over two decades reshaping the landscape of multigenerational wealth management, co-founding Apriem Advisors based in Southern California, which has a mission to deliver exceptional services rooted in family values and a personalized approach inspired by the concept of “Ohana”—a Hawaiian term that embodies the spirit of family and community.

His debut book, “Values Over Valuables” Daring to Live the Life Money Can’t Buy, was inspired by his belief that wealth is not just about numbers and portfolios but about people and relationships. He was struck by a statistic indicating that 70% of wealth is lost by the second generation and a staggering 90% by the third. In his book, he highlights the importance of outlining and instilling family values in the next generations. By prioritizing core values over financial details, families can achieve wealth beyond measure and ensure their legacy has a lasting, significant impact.

Since the book was released in November 2024, it has earned the #1 hot new release best seller on Amazon. If you desire to equip your family with the tools to have conversations that matter, align around shared values, and use your wealth as a means to support a positive, multigenerational legacy then this is a book is a must read.

Harmon, his wife Lea and four adult children arrived in Tamarack in 2020 accidentally after their 25th year wedding anniversary trip to Italy was canceled due to COVID lockdowns. Around the resort you will often find them enjoying some of their favorite club activities like, skiing first and last tracks, summer Friday night glass, and anything that involves good food and great conversations. Harmon and Lea believe family is our most important asset because family is a source of strength where faith is lived out, community begins, generosity is demonstrated, and service to others is aspired.

All proceeds from books purchased through the QR code in April 2025 will go to Sam Maynard’s medical fund.

Q&A WITH BRADY TRUEDINGER

Q: Can you tell us a hidden gem in Valley County that only locals know about?

Brady: Fogglifter’s Cafe in McCall is absolutely amazing!

Q: Donnelly is known as the crossroads to recreation, what would you say is your favorite way to recreate?

Brady: I personally love snowboarding during the winter, and fishing and hiking to the lakes around here during the summertime.

Q: Where would we find your favorite viewpoint in Tamarack?

Brady: My personal favorite viewpoint will always be the back of the hill looking out at Council Mountain from the top of the Summit Lift. That cat-track is brutal but 100% worth the view.

Q: In three sentences or less tell us a little bit about yourself.

Brady: I’m from Florida and have been traveling / working around the country for about fourish years now! I started work in the National Park Service, doing a mix of rescue and hospitality work. I moved out to Tamarack three years ago starting in lodging, and have lived and worked here in different positions ever since!

Q: What do you like best about living here in Tamarack Resort

Brady: I love the small town vibes with the atmosphere and terrain of a large mountain. When you go skiing, you feel like you’re at a world class resort, but when you’re at home it feels very peaceful.

Q: If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

Brady: I would probably learn to speak another language like Italian or Spanish.

Q: If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?

Brady: I would travel to and live in as many places as I could.

CLUB LIFESTYLE

SPRING INTO WELLNESS

Embrace seasonal shifts with movement. As the snow begins to melt and the days slowly grow longer, transition your activities to match the changing mountain landscape. Continue to enjoy winter sports while conditions allow, but start incorporating activities that prepare your body for spring. Fat tire biking on the Osprey Nordic trails, cross-training with yoga or strength classes at The Club Fitness Studio, and taking part in our Wellness Morning in McCall are great ways to stay active as the seasons shift. Gradually introduce more hikes and trail runs as snow gives way to softer terrain, allowing your body to adapt to new movement patterns.

Support Your Body with Seasonal Nutrition

With the transition from winter to spring, your body craves lighter, fresh foods while still needing warmth and nourishment. Balance hearty winter meals with seasonal additions like dark leafy greens, citrus fruits, and fermented foods to support digestion and immunity. Warm broths, herbal teas, and root vegetables provide grounding energy, while fresh smoothies and lighter grain bowls help ease into the brighter days ahead.

Honor Rest and Recovery

After months of high-energy winter sports, give yourself permission to slow down and recover. Incorporate gentle stretching, foam rolling, and restorative yoga to release built-up tension and prevent injury. Take advantage of the sauna and The Spa at Tamarack to help your muscles recover and ensure you’re getting enough rest to support your body through this seasonal transition. Our Permission to Chill class is designed to help you unwind from an active season, promoting deep relaxation and restoration.

Practice Mindfulness in Nature

The shift between winter and spring is gradual in the mountains, offering a unique opportunity to observe nature’s subtle changes. Take mindful walks through the trails, noticing the way the snow recedes and new life emerges. Join our Full Moon Yoga and Snowshoe & Wine walk or simply take a quiet moment outside to breathe in the crisp air. Practicing mindfulness—whether through meditation, journaling, or simply soaking in the beauty of the changing landscape—helps cultivate gratitude for both the season that is ending and the one that is beginning.

By embracing movement, nourishing your body, prioritizing rest, and staying present, you’ll transition smoothly into spring while maintaining wellness and energy for all the new mountain and lake adventures ahead!
