Steve Rankey experimented with building a cross from picture frame molding in the late 90’s and gave it to a retiring nun. Then his wife Linda said that she would like to have one. He researched the dimensions for Christian crosses, purchased a variety of picture frame moldings, and got busy. He’s made crosses from 2’ through 5’, and as high as 10’ if possible. Visit Steve’s Crosses & More in Building I Booth 29 to admire these inspiring crosses. Gift one to yourself or your special someone.

If we asked Travis about two years ago to make a bowl out of wood, he probably would have asked in return, “why?” Yet a social media video on that very topic appeared satisfying to him. So he invested in tools and began a new hobby. He initially crafted bowls for the coffee table, began a “Firewood Rescue Program”, then opened an Etsy shop. Although woodturning started off as a hobby less than two years ago, it quickly escalated into a dream job, proving that “work” doesn’t have to be something dreaded. Travis said, “There is no limit to creativity and the odds are, someone out there will think what you have created is the perfect piece. Maybe not every piece, but that is why keeping your head up, persevering, and never stoping creating are the most important ingredients to loving what you do. Strive to INSPIRE, love to CREATE and don’t forget to TURN IT UP!!” Find Turn It Up by Travis with the turtle logo Outside in Booth AA.
