CLINOVO CASE STUDY| SEAMLESS EDC-EPRO INTEGRATION
BACKGROUND | SPRIM provides specific capabilities from strategy to operations, in the food, consumer healthcare, well-being and pharmaceutical industries. For this study, SPRIM was working for a major international nutricical ingredient company on a US-based phase III clinical trial. The goal was to measure the effect of a probiotic on the transit-time for more than 220 subjects.
CHALLENGES | SPRIM was looking for a cost-effective open source EDC solution customizable to its client’s needs. The company also needed an ePro system to allow patients to autonomously report their observations from home. User-friendly interfaces for both EDC and ePRO Systems were necessary to avoid human errors. SPRIM needed a turnkey solution that could be rapidly implemented.
SOLUTION | Clinovo was selected amongst a large number of competing CROs, including abroad, because we proposed an integrated EDC-ePro solution instead of two separate instances, saving both time and cost of data collection. Our team of experts integrated ClinCapture, our open source EDC platform, with an open source customized ePro system. The integration offered automated daily data import from the ePro system directly into the EDC system. If the patient did not fill the diary as expected, ClinCapture would follow-up with an automated reminder to the patient the next day. Very satisfied of the completion of the first study, SPRIM partnered with Clinovo on several additional studies. SPRIM enjoyed over 50% savings on the following one using study build efficiencies on ClinCapture.
