After Pennsylvania’s medical cannabis law set forth that medical schools could be designated as Academic Clinical Research Centers (ACRC), Drexel University started operations at the Medical Cannabis Research Center in 2020, aiming to conduct clinical, public health and translational research studies along with Argonomed Biologics LLC, these two organizations entered into an 8-year, 15.5-million-dollar contract.
In addition, funding for annual pilot trials is being considered in order to explore the efficacy of Cannabis as a treatment for other conditions such as autism and opioid addiction.
