or those who’ve traveled to Anguilla, part of the British West Indies, Four Seasons Resort & Residences seems familiar but different in many aspects. For one, it’s formerly Starwood resort Viceroy Anguilla, but the property closed in August 2016 and then reopened in October with new management and features. Part of traveling to this section of the Caribbean is taking in the

almost-secluded character, one that manifests through a lack of hotels, casinos, or cruise ships and the preserved beauty and culture. With the Four Seasons located on 3,200 feet of island’s Northwestern shore, you’ll get to experience many of those facets, from pristine sands to authentic cuisine, without traveling far. TRAVEL 181 total living spaces, including 24 villas, four town homes, and 33 residences, all characterized by modern, spacious interiors, views of the Caribbean, and luxurious sundecks, plunge pools, and marble bathrooms. For travelers in groups, you’ll be able to get a multi-bedroom accommodation. Residences, designed with one to three bedrooms covering 1,407 to 3,679 square feet, can hold up to eight guests. Inside, a kitchen, living, and dining areas, all furnished, complement the sleeping space. Villas, a larger option, offer four- to five-bedroom spaces situated not far from the beach or bluffs. With anywhere from 1,938 to 3,331 square feet, these are ideal for up to 12 guests with its gourmet kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining areas, whirlpool, infinity pool, and deck. When it’s time to dine, head over to one of its four restaurants and lounges, all featuring seasonal menus with locally caught seafood and fresh produce. Out of your choices, Coba is open for breakfast and dinner, with a changing assortment of seafood-based dishes. Bamboo Bar & Grill lets you explore Caribbean cuisine with Antillean street foods, such as rotis, crab cakes, and sweet potato hummus, alongside casual staples. For something more casual, the Sunset Lounge pairs vintage Caribbean rums and island cocktails with sushi, all while you have a chance to enjoy a cigar and a view of the ocean. For lunch, stop by Half Shell Beach Bar, offering a light menu alongside frozen drinks. Travelers looking to relax won’t just find massages and various skincare treatments at the Anguilla Spa, but they’ll walk into a transformative experience. Emphasis on wellness flows through its 13 spa rooms, plus three cabanas and facial rooms, where you’ll always have a stunning view of the turquoise Caribbean Sea. For entertainment, the Four Seasons has its own pools plus a separate Sports Pavilion. Unwind at the Sea Centre on Meads Bay, infinity-style Sunset Pool, or the cabana-lined Aleta, or select the family-friendly option if you’re traveling with children. At the pavilion, start up a game of tennis, volleyball, or yoga, try your hand at rock climbing, or sign up for beachfront yoga. Along with these activities, the resort offers a handful of spaces geared toward kids and teens. In going to Anguilla, you’ll want to travel off the resort, and with its 16 mile long, three mile wide configuration, finding natural beauty, walking along a quintessential beach, or discovering local music or a festival can be done close by. 33 beaches, small to large, line the perimeter, all with a more intimate feeling because of Anguilla’s lack of cruisers. If you want to go farther, request a trip to sail out to other nearby islands, or parasail or snorkel by or in the water. For the foodie, Anguilla’s garnered a reputation as the Caribbean’s culinary capital, and here, you’ll find over 100 restaurants to expand your palate. While it might seem like a distance, the Four Seasons is open to travelers from all over the world as an event venue, whether that’s a corporate retreat to the islands or a destination wedding. A New Look InterContinental A

n iconic Hollywood landmark, the InterContinental Los Angeles exudes luxury in and out, with a feeling of five-star glamour coupled with its proximity to Century City’s major entertainment studios. The hotel recently went through an extensive series of renovations, from updated guestrooms, public, and meeting spaces to two new dining options. The multi-million-dollar project unveiled new room categories and enhanced the interior with a California-inspired look and feel. Behind the remodeled 363 guestrooms, including 148 suites, was Los Angeles-based The Design Studios. For guests staying here, rooms

present two color palettes: a soothing green signifying balance and lighter purple for a royal character. All incorporate modern furniture featuring wood veneers and neutral fabrics, crystal lamps, various pops of color from geometric accents, Italian marble in the bathroom, and a series of abstract ink artwork from Kim Johnson. The changes now consider the traveling family or group wanting a shared space. This arrangement, with five total available, connects four neighboring suites, allowing guests the chance to gather and socialize while offering the privacy of individual rooms. As one of the new dining choices, Mari Los Angeles serves up a menu of farm-fresh global cuisine inspired by the owner’s Japanese heritage and travels. In planning the array of dishes, Executive Chef Jonathan Wood and his culinary team select produce from Southern California. In line with the state’s climate, Mari has indoor seating flowing into an expansive garden outdoors. The other choice, Copper Lounge, functions as the hotel’s socializing spot. Inspired by the copper stills used to distill whiskey, the lounge’s highlight is a glass wall reflecting a large selection of alcoholic drinks from all over the world, including some of the most sought-after whiskeys. When relaxing or returning from a day of sightseeing, unwind in the Spa InterContinental. Driving into a New Era The Rolls-Royce Dawn has always represented new beginnings for the seminal luxury car brand. Initially, the Silver Dawn revived the company in 1952 after World War II slowed down global car production. In 2016, the new Dawn, a twin-turbo 6.6-liter drophead with a V12 powertrain based off its mid-century predecessor, is opening up a new chapter in high-end luxury cars, presenting a truly social open-top experience for everyone inside. This past September, Clientele Luxury had a chance to drive the new Dawn from Boston to Rhode Island, after we stayed at the Liberty Hotel in the city. On a basic level, this new version stands out with its advanced technology, clear feedback, and smoother ride. But, branding isn’t only what makes the Dawn a game-changer. Rather, most of its innovations are in the design. Rolls-Royce, here, created a true four-seater drop-head without compromising, one in which a traditional format offers more legroom and enough comfort for four adults. Additionally, its complete package encompasses 80-percent unique body parts, all developed specifically for the Dawn. At its core, however, the Dawn is still a classic Rolls-Royce and borrows a handful of elements from the brand’s other models. For instance, it operates with the silence of a Wraith, reaching in 20 seconds a cruising speed of 50kph. As such, critics consider it the quietest open-top car to date. The interior, too, reflects classic Rolls-Royce sophistication, from the drop-head coupe to the newly designed exterior panels. The Dawn is a very visual car. Its two-to-one design incorporates a long bonnet with a wake channel, short front and long rear overhangs, C-pillars, a horizontally narrow side window aperture, and a high shoulder line. New panels merge together to hint at its grand, if somewhat intimidating, character, but in total, when viewed with the top up, it resembles the swiftness of a hot rod. Yet, with the top down, the Dawn’s vibe changes, and it shows here that Rolls-Royce developed two cars in one. From this position, the stainless steel elements are more apparent, from the waist line finisher 14 |

wrapping around the cabin to the door handles, polished wheels, visible exhaust pipes, and front and rear bumpers. From here, the outside practically flows into the interior, an uninterrupted space complemented by coach doors and a long front. Details, too, go into everything. As we looked around before taking a drive, we saw polished metal chaplets resembling high-end wrist

watches, while opening the fabric roof was another completely silent experience – and took all of 22 seconds. A Bespoke Audio System, featuring 16 individually tuned speakers, lets you find the right balance. On more of the technical side, the Dawn’s based on a newly designed suspension system, one prioritizing stiffness and optimal mass distribution for a more comfortable ride some consider akin to a magic carpet. On the road, its lower center of gravity was easily noticed, while dynamic accelerator pedal mapping led to a significantly greater response. As dusk sets in, you’ll want to turn on its LED lights. As one of its several advancements, it illuminated the road ahead without adding any distracting glare to the view. ■

Born in Los Angeles in 1969, Michaels-Beerbaum is the first female show-jumper to be ranked No. 1 in the world. By the age of 14, she won her first gold Rolex watch at the Senator’s Cup at the Washington International Horse Show, a competition geared towards top amateur riders. While attending Princeton University, she got the idea to train in Germany with rider Paul Schockemöhle. She became the first woman in history to represent Germany at a Championship event and eventually held the world’s No. 1 spot for 24 months. Michaels-Beerbaum is the only woman and one of three people to have earned three World Cup Final victories: Las Vegas in 2005, the Rolex World Cup Final in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2008, and Las Vegas again in 2009. From her wins, Michaels-Beerbaum has amassed a collection of Rolex watches, with her favorite being the Datejust in white gold, which she received after winning Gothenburg. In February 2010, Michaels-Beerbaum gave birth to her daughter, Brianne Victoria. But, without taking a significant break, she returned to riding that year, competing in the Kentucky World Equestrian Games and even won her Team a gold. Fluent in French, she visits Paris regularly and has studied the Belle Epoque Period there through the University of California at Berkeley. She played an arch villainess, Roberta Price, on the hit TNT show The Last Ship in 2016, and has appeared in several commercials with basketball legend Charles Barkley. 2017 sees her producing a documentary that focuses on female reporters in conflict zones. ESPN’s SportsCenter anchor Lindsay Czarniak and TODAY co-anchor Craig Melvin met on air while working together at the NBC affiliate in Washington, DC in 2008 and married three years later.
