PEOPLE of 2017 Mark Weaver

World Class Interior Designer Mark Weaver & Associates If any word captures the work of Mark Weaver, it’s timelessness. Weaver, who started his eponymous interior design and architecture studio in 1970, blends both old and new elements, juxtaposing clean, modern styles with more detailed classical aspects. As an additional element, his Italian heritage frequently emerges in his various projects. Over the years, Mark Weaver & Associates has developed a vast and distinctive portfolio encompassing residential installations, private air crafts, yachts, island retreats, and corporate installations on both coasts and even in international locations. As more individuals and businesses as large as Fortune 500 companies seek out Weaver, this body of work continues to grow. One of his more recent endeavors, an estate in Santa Ynez, California, highlights the property’s proximity to Santa Barbara’s vineyards and olive groves with a wine cave overlooking the surrounding landscape. Inside, Weaver incorporates such elements as stone walls, French limestone floors, Fortuny fabrics, antiques, and 18th century fireplaces. The property’s expansiveness brings together a separate guest house, observation tower, a pool, bocce court, and even an amphitheater. Mark Weaver & Associates is currently completing a mountainside property in the Snowmass area in Aspen, Colo. and has numerous other extensive projects throughout the world. ■

Lucy Butler

Actress & Travel Extraordinaire “Polymath” is one of those words that get thrown around a lot, but Lucy Butler embodies that title. An actress, writer, producer, director, and concierge travel agent are all hats she wears weekly. From a sixth generation San Francisco family, her father went into the Peace Corps and passed on to her a love of travel and exotic places. By the age of nine she had traversed the globe, to destinations as diverse as Afghanistan, Tunisia, Malaysia, and Pakistan. She graduated from Stanford University and promptly moved to Chicago were she began her acting career. She appeared first at Second City, the famous improvisational troupe, and went on to appear in television, films, and commercials. She got married to Greg Gelfan, a studio executive, in Positano, Italy in 2004 at the famed Le Sirenuse hotel and honeymooned in Morocco. Her specialty is elaborate itineraries curated for families and couples, and she is on her way to both Spain (her specialty) and Sri Lanka in 2017. Fluent in French, she visits Paris regularly and has studied the Belle Epoque Period there through the University of California at Berkeley. She played an arch villainess, Roberta Price, on the hit TNT show The Last Ship in 2016, and has appeared in several commercials with basketball legend Charles Barkley. 2017 sees her producing a documentary that focuses on female reporters in conflict zones. A resident of West Los Angeles, she lives in a 1929 home once owned by the famous actor Joel McCrea. ■ 36 | www.ClienteleLuxury.com
