DTLA. ELECTRICALLY URBAN, CREATIVE HUB, CULTURAL BASTION. VIBRANT JEWISH COMMUNITY.

In 2007, Rabbi Moshe and Rivky Greenwald brought Chabad’s joyful brand of Judaism to a DTLA that was just discovering its untapped potential. As warehouses transformed into lofts and art galleries, and abandoned storefronts became the core of a thriving nightlife, Chabad was there, orchestrating a renaissance of the spirit. In a few short years, Chabad established itself as the only Jewish home for DTLA’s diverse, ambitious, and energetic Angelinos.

MAKING DOWNTOWN DIVINE Our Shabbat and Holiday dinners are renowned in DTLA as a place to connect, refresh, and nourish both body and spirit. The Jewish Learning Academy attracts countless curious minds that desire to learn about their heritage and faith in an accepting and welcoming environment. With prescience, we started YJP to exclusively cater to DTLA’s young Jews. Our programming exploded in popularity and YJP has now blossomed into two branches across the city.

Jewish patients and their families in all 4 DTLA local hospitals have come to cherish our bi-monthly visits bringing cheer, hope, and comfort. Our Lecture Series featuring sought-after presenters, such as Eva Schloss, offers an inimitable educational experience to thousands of Jews and non-Jews alike. For those in our community in the worlds of law, finance, and commerce, our business networking programs are an invaluable resource in expanding and perfecting their professional lives.

Chabad of DTLA has become a consistent source of warmth, spirituality, and family to those who call DTLA home. For over a decade, thousands have passed through our doors to celebrate, study, grow, and share. A powerful and unrelenting community has grown here. But now, it has outgrown its space. We have relocated signature events to larger venues for far too long.

WE ARE BURSTING AT THE SEAMS.

- THE REBBE

“I have lived in Downtown LA for 18 years. Eleven years ago I witnessed the renaissance of Jewish life and community with the arrival of Rabbi Moshe. He and his wife Rivky have created a place that welcomes all the Jews of Downtown; a place to worship, celebrate and learn as a Jew; a place where I can now raise my daughter in the Jewish tradition. Downtown Chabad is an essential and integral part of the fabric of the DTLA community.” - Patti Berman President of Downtown Neighborhood Council

“Chabad of Downtown LA has brought me back to my roots. Rabbi Moshe, Rivky and family are not just great Jewish influencers, they have become amongst my closest of friends.” - Brad Copeland CEO PBJ Enterprises

“Chabad of DTLA feels like an extension of my home. It’s where I get to nourish my Jewish identity. As a progressive activist with a strong Jewish identity, Chabad of DTLA is a huge asset to my life as a Jew.” - Ariana Nussdorf Professor of Business and General Studies at FIDM
