Tonight, the Cleveland Cavaliers will play the New York Knicks for the first time this season. The Cavs have won the last eight meetings against the Knicks, as well as the last six contests played at Quicken Loans Arena. In last year’s three-game sweep of New York, the Cavs out-scored the Knicks by an average of 112.3 to 96.7. The Cavs also shot .552 from the field for the series, while holding the Knicks to .457 shooting in the three games played in 200910. Cleveland trails the all-time series 100-76. The Cavs have limited their miscues, averaging only 13.2 turnovers per game, which is the second fewest in the league. Daniel Gibson is coming off a season-high 26 points against the Heat on Wednesday. In that game, he shot 10-16 (.625) from the field, including 4-7 (.571) from behind the three-point line, and dished out four assists in 39 minutes. The Cavs will play another home game on Monday night against Utah before going on the road to face Atlanta. The New York Knicks have the second best record in the Atlantic Division at 16-10 and are the second-highest scoring team in the NBA at 108.8 points per game. The team is led by Amare Stoudemire, who recently scored at least 30 points in nine consecutive games (Nov. 28 – Dec. 15), which is now a Knicks record. During that span, he averaged 34.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. The Cavs and Knicks will face off again on February 25 at The Q.
