The Cleveland Cavaliers and the New Orleans Hornets will complete their two-game regular season series tonight at Quicken Loans Arena. In their first meeting on Nov. 19, the Cavs had a season-high 65 bench points and shot 32-34 (.941) from the free throw line. Antawn Jamison (20 points, 11 rebounds) and Ramon Sessions (16 points, five assists) both gave solid efforts, but the teamâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s late rally fell short in a 108-101 loss at New Orleans Arena. Cleveland leads the alltime series 42-36. In his first career start, Cavs rookie Samardo Samuels recorded the first double-double of his career with career-highs of 23 points on 10-18 (.556) shooting and 10 rebounds in 34 minutes against San Antonio. He also added a career-high three assists. The last Cavs player to post a double-double in his first NBA start was Carlos Boozer (16 points and 11 rebounds) on Nov. 22, 2002. Over his last two games, Samuels is averaging 17.5 points on 15-26 (.577) shooting and 8.0 rebounds in 29.0 minutes per game. After tonight, the Cavs will stay at home to face the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday.
Cavs rookie Samardo Samuels posted a double-double in his first start with career-highs of 23 points and 10 rebounds against the San Antonio Spurs.
The Hornets are one of the best defensive teams in the league, holding opponents to 92.9 points per game (4th lowest in league). The team also takes solid care of the ball, limiting their turnovers to just 13.3 per game (2nd best in NBA). New Orleans is led by point guard Chris Paul, who is averaging 15.8 points, 9.6 assists and a league-best 2.4 steals in 35.9 minutes per game this season.
