Tonight, the Cleveland Cavaliers will play the Indiana Pacers in their first Central Division showdown of the season. The last time these two teams met at Quicken Loans Arena, J.J. Hickson went off for 21 points on 8-11 (.727) shooting, 10 rebounds and three assists, but the Pacers escaped with a 116-113 win on April 9th. However, the Cavs have won 16 of the last 20 contests against the Pacers and are 81-76 all-time against them.
Cavaliers power forward, J.J. Hickson is flying high with 16.5 points per game this season.
The back-to-back Central Division champion Cavaliers will try to repeat the success they’ve had against their division in recent years. Over the last two seasons, the Cavs are 25-7 against the Central, including 14-2 at The Q. Third-year forward J.J. Hickson is averaging 16.5 points per game this season, which is nearly twice his average from last season (8.5 points). The Cavs will wrap up their three-game home stand on Tuesday night against Philadelphia.
Indiana comes into tonight’s contest as the second-best shot blocking team in the NBA and are led by Roy Hibbert, who is the league’s second-best shot blocker at 3.4 blocks per game. Hibbert has also been solid on the offensive end, averaging 15.6 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists. As a team, Indiana is only allowing 9.6 second chance points per game. The Cavs and Pacers will meet again in 10 days at Conseco Fieldhouse. The Pacers Roy Hibbert is averaging 3.4 blocks per game this season.
