Parkview Dining Room was filled with the lyrics of love songs as Fathead Davis performed in celebration of Valentine’s Day. With Fathead’s electric piano and infectious smile joy spread throughout the room. “The residents enjoyed Fathead’s performance, it was a great Valentine’s Day” said Pam Sauer, OVM Activities Director. “Fathead provided great entertainment for our residents, and I received a lot of positive compliments about Fathead Davis’s music from the staff, residents and visitors.” Fathead can perform a variety of music ranging from rhythm, blues, soul and jazz to the love songs he performed at OVM. “I had a wonderful time performing at OVM,” said Fathead. OVM’s Activities Department works hard to bring in additional entertainment and to keep plenty of activities at OVM. The Activities Department staff would like to thank Fathead for performing at OVM and looks forward to future performances. Ohio Valley Manor Nurs-

Local school receives donation to begin work on garden Community gardens are more than an excellent source of fresh produce. They also bring neighbors closer together and teach the community about agriculture. St. Michael Parochial School realizes the benefits of community gardens and will now be able to begin work on one thanks to a local farmer and America’s Farmers Grow CommunitiesSM. Grow Communities gives farmers the opportunity to win $2,500 for their favorite local nonprofit organizations. Joni Fussnecker was the winning farmer in Brown County, and she has chosen to direct the donation to St. Michael Parochial School. “My children as well as my husband attended St. Michael Parochial School,” Fussnecker said. “They are

always in need of extra funds, and I’m thrilled to be able to help them in this way!” The organization will use the $2,500 to begin work on a school/community garden. The garden will supply the school cafeteria with fresh produce while teaching the students how to grow their own food. “Our faculty, staff, parents, and students are all very excited to get started on this project,” said Sister Carol Ann Mause, principal. “This garden will benefit our entire community, in addition to being a fun way to learn.” In a ceremony held on March 16 at St. Michael Parochial School, Joni Fussnecker got the chance to present the school with the $2,500 donation.

The Brown County Humane Society (BCHS) will host a Quarter Auction on Friday, May 4, at Southern Hills Career and Technical College, 9193 Hamer Road, Georgetown. Doors open at 6 p.m. Some great auction items have been donated by local businesses and home vendors. In addition, vendors will be set up on site. BCHS is a non-profit 501c3 charity organized to benefit Brown County animals in need. In addi-

tion, BCHS currently is managing the Brown County Animal Shelter. Many dogs arrive at the shelter in poor condition or are injured and require veterinary care. BCHS pays for that care. This Quarter Auction promises to be a great way to have fun and at the same time, benefit animals in need.
