Great Teams Clemson advanced to the NCAA “Sweet 16” for the second consecutive season after losing all five starters from the previous year. The Lady Tigers defeated Manhattan in the first round and then won, 61-59, over Connecticut on the Huskies’ home court to advance to the East Regional Semifinals. Clemson then fell to #4 Tennessee.

LADY TIGER BASKETBALL

1989-90

The Lady Tigers set the school record for most ACC wins in a season with 10 and finished with an overall record of 22-10. Clemson was ranked 19th in the final USA Today poll. Freshman Kerry Boyatt led the team in scoring with a 15.3 point per game average and was named the ACC Rookie-of-the-Year, the third in program history. Jim Davis was selected as ACC Coach-of-the-Year.

ACC Rookie-of-the-Year

Jackie Farmer led the squad in rebounding with a 8.9 rebounds per game mark and ranked first in the league with a 2.2 blocks per game average. Her blocking averaged ranked 24th in the nation that year.
