We are bound to them, though we cannot look into their eyes or hear their voices. We honor their history, cherish their lives. By telling their stories, we remember them.

The youngest of three children born to Thomas Lyle Critchfield and Virginia Alexander Critchfield on September 14, 1935, Dennis joined older sisters Ella Rae and Colleen at their home in Oakley, Idaho.
Notice he’s packing a puppy.
The Critchfield homestead in Oakley, ID.. will always be remembered fondly by Uncle Denny’s seven nephews and five nieces.
In 1950’s rural Idaho, walking was a transportation necessity, not an exercise routine, Dennis ran the distance between Oakley High School and home because the faster he got home and got his chores done, the more time he had to hunt, fish and roam the South Hills.

Dennis wanted to be a butcher, but when Idaho State coaches Dubby Holt and Babe Caccia showed up in Oakley, ID they convinced the 1953 Idaho State high school one mile champion to become a Bengal.
Veteran who served his country from 1958-1960
As an airborne infantry division of the United States Army, the 82nd Airborne Division specialized in parachute assault operations into hostile areas. With a mandate to be on-call to rapidly deploy within 18 hours of notification, they made frequent airborne jumps to ensure readiness to execute airfield seizures.
The Army's Basic Parachutist Badge is awarded to all military personnel of any service who complete the US Army Basic Airborne Course. To graduate, a student had to complete the three-phase course consisting of a ground phase, a tower phase, and a jump phase. By the end of the course, a student will have completed five jumps in varying jump configurations, from a "no load" jump all the way to a full combat load jump at night. This badge signifies that the soldier is a trained military parachutist and is qualified to participate in airborne operations.
Typical Coon, always loving on a dog.Dennis had two children, Lorri and Stacy with Sondra Henderson of N,C, He recently learned of a son, Charles ”Chip” Conselman. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by granddaughter Jessica and great granddaughter Hazel.
To say that Coon was an avid outdoorsman with a love for fishing and hunting would be an understatement. We are heartened that he is enjoying those pastimes again in heaven with old friends.
Dennis married the love of his life, Anne Manor in 1985. She will always be the best bonus mom and grandmother we could ever wish for.
