working to overcome challenges ARIEL’s Story: Ariel R. knows where he’s going, he just needs a little help getting there. “He knows every subway system, every bus route in Boston,” says his mother, June R. “Most people with Asperger Syndrome have a passion—Ariel loves the MBTA. He would be thrilled to commute to work every day.” But for Ariel, a 24-year-old high school graduate, finding and keeping a job has been an insurmountable challenge. “Now that he’s out of school and he’s not working, he doesn’t have any social connection,” says June. “For Ariel, working is about being productive, doing things for others and not being isolated. Without a job, he really doesn’t have much of a life.” CJP’s groundbreaking new Transitions to Work program will help young people like Ariel with specialized job training, ongoing support and job placement opportunities. Honoring the Jewish imperative to care for all who are in need, CJP united the efforts of Jewish Vocational Service, Hebrew SeniorLife and the Ruderman Family Foundation to make this project possible. With your support this year, we’re uniquely positioned to help thousands of people with disabilities to reach their potential.

Transitions to Work is a breakthrough for the disability community and it will begin to answer an unmet need.

We’re hoping that others will follow our lead, and invest

in CJP as the most effective way to help the thousands of people with disabilities who are still in need of employment services.
