Edition 2 Local 1599 is going through many changes, to evolve with changes within our facility I am proud to see the energy and enthusiasm from new members wanting to volunteer and help strengthen their own local. Education is power and communications help inform and educate our members. With more locals getting involved with facebook, webpages, emailing, twitter etc. Members are becoming more educated and involved. All these tools to communicate have not only brought the members in locals closer but has brought locals closer to other locals. I am proud of our executive, proud of our committees and proud of the members who help other members. 2011 will bring forth many more positive and exciting changes, stay tuned.

Congratulations! Our Recording Secretary Debbie Boissonneault has been a very busy lady in the last months; not only was she chosen by CUPE MB to become an ombudsman for their events but she was also voted Co-Chair of the Manitoba Human Rights committee. We are proud and lucky to have you as one of our own. Congratulations from all CUPE 1599 members for your hard work and dedication!

What We Know about 4 West 4 west (formerly known as 4 east) has been chosen by the WRHA to become a Neuro Rehab unit sometime in the near future. The patients from this program are currently being cared for at Seven Oaks Hospital. The Orthopaedic Rehab unit currently on 4 west will be moving to Seven Oaks. At this time this is all the TRUE information we have. Anything else you may hear through the grapevine is gossip. Our president Jack Sellers will keep the members informed of any decisions or updates by the WRHA as they become available.

PHCC Thanks to everyone who filled out the PHCC questionnaire. The forms were compiled by the bargaining committee, chaired by Lorena Novel, and the results give to Dwayne Binns, our PHCC rep, so that he can bring our ideas to the PHCC for the upcoming round of negotiations.
