Level 5 – CJGA Team Canada

The CJGA continued to strengthen its relations in 2013 with international golfing bodies and organizations, competing in 12 international competitions during the 2013 season. New to the schedule this season was the MCB Curacao Invitational Pro-Am in Curacao. As part of a marketing partnership, the top three juniors from the CJGA National Order of Merit made up a team of amateurs and partnered with CJGA alumni Cory Renfrew at the 7th annual MCB Curacao Invitational Pro-Am on the island of Curacao. The Canadian team finished runner-up at the event, with Cory finishing in 4th place and Patrick Murphy finishing runner-up in the individual amateur competition. A the opportunities continue to grow for Canadians in international competition, 2013 saw it’s share of exceptional Canadian performances. -

Tony Gil (Vaughan, Ontario) captures medalist honors at Canadian International Junior Challenge, first Canadian to do so. CJGA Team Canada captures team title at Canadian International Junior Challenge, becoming first Canadian team to do so in events 7 year history. Matt Williams (Calgary, Alberta) finishes in 9th place at Junior World Golf Championships, San Diego, CA, the lowest Canadian in the field. Dylan Hughes (North Vancouver, British Columbia) birdies the 54th hole at the PonCat Dutch Junior Open to make the cut on the number. Hughes missed the cut the first year he played in 2012. Level 6 – NCAA & Amateur Events

The CJGA is extremely proud of the continuous opportunities it provides for young golfers across the country. As leaders and front-runners of junior golf development in Canada, the success of the association is driven by the success of its membership. In 2013, the CJGA is proud to highlight the successes of its alumni at the post-secondary level in both Canada and the United States. CJGA alumni are having great success at the collegiate level, making Canada one of the more sought after recruiting countries outside of the United States.
