wCJr "This is WCJR, broadcasting live from Chaminade-J ulienne High Schoo!,11 These immortal words were first heard late in school year on April 20th. Along with some music, t hey were heard between 8 AM and 3PM Monday through Friday at 640 on your AM dial. But what you heard over the radio didnlt show the work involved in getting CJR on the air. Ever since Ken Urban came up with the idea a year ago, it has been an uphill battle to get on the air. But it finally happened and lid like to thank John Orr, Ed S luzas, Andy Chestnut, Karen Clemons, Ted Bright, Rick Summers, Jeff Orr, Barb Becker, Mary Agnes Mikalauskas, and most especially Ken Urban and Father Bob B ouffi er . They helped through the good times as well as the bad times, like the time the transmitter fizzled out or the monitor , speaker didnlt work. And who can forget the time George Carlin went over to the wrong band and we sweated out his obscenities? The worst had to be the time we played II Fanny" over the air . . . thought I wa's gonna die. Those were the bad times; the good times more than made up for them. We enjoyed saying hello to the Chem classes and the girls in the locker room, or just doing a good show for people. We made it through the end of the year and the 90° degree heat in the ?tudio, not to mention th'e hassles ... but welve g.ot our foot in the door and no one' i s going to close it on us.
