He has also served as chair of the U.S. Council for Environmental Quality and as chair of the United Nations Development Group. He currently teaches at the University of Vermont Law School and is a Distinguished Senior Fellow at Demos, a nonpartisan public policy research and advocacy organization. Speth is the recipient of numerous awards and has authored several books, including his most recent, Angels by the River: A Memoir.
